NerdSync Privacy Policy

NerdSync ("we", "us", or "our") is a social and fitness app for adults 18+, operated by The Ken Dolls LLC. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Information We Collect

• Account data: email address, username, date of birth, display name
• Profile data: bio, interests, photos, vibe scores, pronouns, fandom lists
• Location (optional): approximate location only (fuzzed by ~1 mile), used for local features such as hangouts and conventions. Discovery is not limited by distance.
• Messages and posts: direct messages between connected users, group and circle chat messages, feed posts, comments, and photos you choose to share
• Fitness activity: workouts, sets, reps and weights you log, habits, and progress in the app's game features
• Verification photos (optional): if you choose to verify, the selfie or ID photo you submit, which is reviewed by our team and used only for verification
• Usage and diagnostics: app interactions and crash reports
• Invites: if you join through someone's invite link or code, we record who invited you, and the person who invited you can see how many people joined through their link; no rewards are given for invites.

How We Use Your Information

• Suggest compatible people based on shared interests
• Enable messaging, group chats, guilds, and the social feed
• Track your workouts, streaks, and game progress
• Verify accounts to maintain a safe community
• Improve the app, fix crashes, and prevent abuse

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app:

• Hosting and database (Railway, MongoDB) to run the service
• Email delivery for password resets and account notices
• PostHog for product analytics (app usage events; no message content, names, or email addresses)
• Sentry for crash and error reports
• RevenueCat, Apple, and Google to process subscriptions, if you purchase one
• Google Translate: when you tap Translate on a message, that message's text is sent to Google to be translated
• AniList: anime and manga searches you make are sent to AniList to look up titles

Your exact location is never stored or shared — only a fuzzed approximation.

Health and Fitness Data

NerdSync does not currently collect step counts. The current app does not connect to Android Health Connect, and no step data is sent to NerdSync servers, analytics, crash reporting, advertisers, or any other company. On iPhone, if you grant motion permission, today's step count may be read from the phone's own motion sensor to draw the screen; it stays on your device and is never uploaded or stored by us. If a future version adds a Health Connect option, it will be off by default, read-only, and described here first.

Workouts you type into NerdSync yourself (sets, reps, weights, sessions) are stored with your account and covered by the rest of this policy.

Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data, messages, and connections are permanently deleted within 30 days.

Your Rights

• Request a copy of your data from Settings, or by emailing privacy@nerdsync.app
• Delete your account and all data via Settings → Delete Account, or at nerdsync.app/delete-account
• Contact us at privacy@nerdsync.app for any privacy requests

Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, bcrypt for passwords). Sensitive data is never logged.

Children

NerdSync is strictly for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
